Church Mission Statement:
“Bethel, a place for all Where we love Christ passionately, Serve Christ joyfully, and Share Christ faithfully.”
Within our own church and community we desire to present truth in thoughtful, creative, and challenging ways. This includes preaching the gospel, sharing our own testimonies, employing music and drama and literature, and showing love to others. Evangelism often occurs as we befriend those who do not yet know Christ. We acknowledge that coming to faith depends upon the inner working of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life.
Love for Christ moves us to be deeply involved in global mission. Prayer, giving, and personal encouragement are extended to missionaries throughout the world. We also rejoice as God calls persons from our own fellowship to serve in mission.
Our church programs or accomplishments
Our traditional and contemporary Sunday services, focal points of corporate worship, include scripture reading, preaching, sacraments, prayer and music. Diverse needs are met by using a variety of musical styles and instruments, lay testimonies, and creeds. We seek to have lay involvement in many roles. Worship is also encouraged in small groups, and as an integral part of each individual’s relationship with God.
Formal teaching occurs at many levels, from children’s classes to adult courses. Bible studies provide in-depth interaction in small-group contexts. Individuals are encouraged to spend time regularly in personal Bible study. Applying scripture to our lives, with the enabling of the Holy Spirit, is a goal that permeates all of these activities.
Each of us has needs for belonging, for steadfast friendships, for loving support. We seek to help one another know God’s will and presence in the midst of our common struggles with relationships, priorities, suffering, temptation, sickness and doubt. We join together in supporting families in the guidance of children, in deepening commitments, and in resolving conflicts. When persons have special needs for recovery from abuse, chronic illness, freedom from addictions, transitions in jobs, stress in families, and dealing with grief, we hope to minister through prayer, healing and encouragement. The focus of these ministries is on people rather than organizational structures.
Gifts, skills and experiences our congregation possesses to fulfill its mission
In addition to the gifts, skills and experiences normally associated with the roles of Pastors, Elders and Deacons, we seek to fulfill our mission by means of the following:
- All members receive pastoral encouragement through a Deacon and a Session Elder;
- Shut-ins receive special attention from Deacons;
- Certified Lay Preachers (currently five), some serving other congregations;
- Support of individuals/organizations serving worldwide;
- Agape Fund and Deacons Fund proving confidential financial assistance to members and non-members (respectively) with urgent needs.

Key theological issues of our church and society that are reflected in the ministry of our congregation
· Bethel is a Christ-centered church that believes in the one, triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
· We believe Jesus alone is the Lord of all, and that He is the only way to salvation.
· We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative word of God and the rule of faith and life.
· We believe God’s people are called to Holiness in all aspects of life.
We are a conservative, evangelical congregation. Our roots are in the Church’s reformed theological doctrine, and we uphold the Church’s historical position regarding the sanctity of life and the union of marriage. We support Presbyterians for Renewal and we have endorsed the Confessing Church Movement. We demonstrate our beliefs by nurturing every age group and consistently building habits of worship, prayer, Bible reading and service. We believe in the Gospel for all, including meeting the needs of body and soul. We welcome seekers from all backgrounds.
