Craft & Bake Sale

November 8, 2008

This was a wonderful success!  Praise the Lord.  Thank you to all the vendors and participants.

Bethel Singles Ministry... is focused on the centrality of Christ in the lives of singles age 30 and up.  The goal is to create a genuine community of like-minded singles focused on serving Christ, and ministering to one another.

We are excited to see what God will do in the lives of the singles community at Bethel.  In the future there will be a variety of functions including many social activities, as well as discussions on a range of singles topics, and even the possibility of guest speakers, and a singles retreat.

Our next event is an OSU - Michigan Football Party on November 22 at the Northampton Condo Community Room (1580 Slade Ave).  The party starts at 11 AM and kick-off is at 12 noon.  Call one of the following people for more information or if you have questions:  Eileen (459-8919), Pam (451-4264), or Jackie (538-1856).

Adult Sunday School: "Both Read the Same Bible"

Beginning September 7th  11:00am

President Lincoln observed this many years ago in his Second Inaugural Address. Both the North and the South read and believed the Bible. How did they come to such radically different conclusions about what it said? Today the Church is faced with very different interpretations of Scripture. Pastor Emeritus Jack Watson will be leading a nine week course on this issue, using Mark Noll's splendid book, The Civil War as a Theological Crisis to explore issues in using the Bible and then explore the controversy in the Church (not just Presbyterian!) over homosexuality. Along the way principles for reading the Bible will be presented.

Bethel Ministries for Women

Presents a new fall Beth Moore Bible study,

Beginning September 9th at 9:15 am and 7:00pm

"To Live is Christ: The Life & Miniistry of Paul" an 11-week journey through a study of Acts and the epistles of Paul and presents fascinating Bible truths to help members gain a new appreciation of servanthood and why Paul said "to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

Along the way participants will get to know the "Apostle to the Gentiles" in a new way. You will discover him to be a man who formed many close friendships with both men and women. He served faithfully and loved heartily. This study will challenge and encourage you with a new appreciation of serventhood.

A current review: "This study gives one a complete, Biblically sound look at the full life of Paul, including his struggles and his triumphs. As usual, Beth Moore reveals insights into our own sruggles as how we too can triumph through the same Power that enabled Paul to."

Please sign up outside the church office for morning or evening. Babysitting can be arranged for the EVENING class for children ages 1 - 6 yuears. Questions? See Vicki Boggs or Susie Hoffmann
